There are these lil' things that we, Filipinos do it and these lil' things is somehow what makes us Filipinos. These things may really so usual to us the we didn't barely notice it. But if we look at it, it chuckles us or give us the face of, "Oo nga, ano?"
So,here are things we usually do but we don't usually notice.
Maybe because Philippines is so in touch with the Americans that if we saw a white foreigner the first thing pop into our head is that, "Amerikano/Amerikana yan". Considering we still didn't hear them speaking, of course.
Pinoys love to look fabulous without gettin' our wallet seems skinnier. And there are piece of heaven for pinoy shopper scattered all through out the island of Philippines usually located beside the road, hell yeah! I'm talking about "ukay-ukay" in here. Hala sige, ukay until you can spot something worth buying that does not cross over the boundary of your budget. And the next day at the office you can usually receive compliments like, "Uy, sosyal! Ganda ng bag mo Louis Vuitton!" and answered back with, "Ukay-ukay lang to no."
Tabo-dipper; a magical tool use by the Pinoys for their manual shower in bathroom or manual flush in the comfort room. This tool can be found in almost every household in the Philippines (because some goes sosyal, they use shower na). It has a various forms; in a normal plastic dipper, can of Bonakid, empty ice cream container and even in coconut shell.
Pinoys love taking vacation, taking jump shot pictures at the beach, hanging in a zipline with just a tiny rope holding their lives from death, riding in a floating banana in the sea, etc. But behind those pictures is an airline ticket in promo. As an travel reservation agent, the usual question we receive from clients is, "May promo ngayon?". Airline promo is more interesting to read in newspaper than the Impeachment news.
A usual scenario under a Pinoy roof is when visitors are in the house the kid in the family usually take the responsibility of buying the softdrinks for the visitors in the nearby "sari-sari" store. Pinoys don't usually stock a softdrinks in the fridge, the usual things you can spot inside the fridge are: cold water in a pitcher, another cold water in the pitcher, an ice cream...container with fish in it, and bunch of snow-like-ice that as a kid we usually eat (I know I'm not the only one). Typically, Pinoy won't buy a softdrinks but for the visitors they will; an example of the "famous" Pinoy hospitality. So, the next time you feel like gulping a softdrinks, just visit a Pinoy house and in just a matter of minutes you'll be holding a ice cold cola in your hand.
